Would you know what to do if you or your partner were injured on a multi-pitch climb?
Goal: This course increases awareness of potential rescue situations and if the circumstance arises, how to perform a rescue for you, your partner or other climbers in need of rescue.
Objectives: Through discussion, demonstration and participation you will practice the basic components of a simple rescue system by learning how to:
- Escape the system,
- Do rescue raises and lowers using a variety of devices and systems, and,
- Perform emergency retreats.

Day 1: 7:00PM-10:00PM – Location: The Core Climbing Centre – indoors.
Day 2: 8:30AM-4:30PM – Location: Cal-Cheak (meet at The Core).

Prerequisite: Lead Climbing Experience.
Equipment required: Harness, 3 locking Carabiners (preferably pear shape), 4-6 D-shape non-locking carabiners, ATC style belay device, climbing shoes, prusik (1.5 meters - 7mm accessory cord), cordalette (5-6 meters - 7mm accessory cord), 6-8 quickdraws, 2 shoulder slings, 50-70m climbing rope. Recommended but not required: selection of cams and nuts.
