Outdoor Private Guiding

Let us design the perfect day to meet your climbing abilities and personal schedule. With our knowledgeable Rock Guides, you will be sure to climb the most classic routes for your ability. Private days are for the experienced and novice climbers alike. For experienced climbers, we will introduce you to the best climbing areas while you fine tune and develop your climbing. This is the perfect environment to push your comfort level with the aid of a guide. For novice climbers, you will enjoy a rounded climbing experience with an understanding of what rock climbing entails. Our experienced Guides will introduce you to a variety of climbs including laybacks, cracks, slabs, dihedrals, and perhaps some of our easier multi-pitch climbs.


Rock Tours

Want to climb but not sure what to do. Try a half day of climbing at one of favorite nearby climbing areas. 

A unique old growth forest welcomes you with amazing vistas of the glacier-capped Tantalus Mountains while you enjoy a variety of climbs and rappels. This special climbing area, Cal-Cheak, provides an awesome variety of routes in the a most tranquil setting.

Wilderness Tours

Not sure if everyone in your group wants to climb; then try one of our Wilderness trips, which involves a series of activities where you will scale a rock bluff, balance on a log and wires, cross a broken bridge, take a leap of faith and finish with a rappel. This 4-hour adventure is powered by you and takes place under the canopy of an old growth forest amidst the stunning vistas of our Coastal Mountains. 

Introductory Outdoor Rock Climbing

Goal: To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to safely top-rope with a climbing partner at a variety of crags plus invaluable climbing movement techniques.

Objectives: Through discussion, demonstration and participation you will learn to:

1. Assess appropriate routes to set up top-ropes,
2. Practice cliff safety,
3. Evaluate and build safe anchors (natural & fixed),
4. Use anchor extensions and directionals,
5. 2nd a climb and retrieve gear from a fixed top-rope station,
6. Rappel (backing-up & blocking),
7. Perform basic rescue applications (blocking & escaping belay and ascending rappel lines), and,
8. Work on climbing skills and drills to develop your technique.

Duration & Cost:

1 + day - $125.00 - Minimum 4 people required.

Day 1: 7:00PM – 9:00PM – Location: The Core – indoors.
Day 2: 8:30AM - 4:30PM – Location: Cal-Cheak (meet at The Core).
Prerequisite: belaying and preferably gym climbing experience.

Equipment required: Harness, 2 locking Carabiners (preferably pear shape), ATC style belay device, climbing shoes, prusik (1.5 metres - 7mm accessory cord), cordalette (5/6 metre - 7mm accessory cord).

Lead Climbing on Sport Routes

Goal: To safely lead single pitch sport routes, plus learn invaluable climbing techniques.

Objectives: Through discussion, demonstration and participation you will be able to:

Develop strategies to safely and efficiently lead a route
Belay a leader with a variety of devices
Efficiently manage a rope
Place quick draws properly - straight gates, bent gates, direction of gates, short - long draws, bolt hangers, pins
Select clipping stances
Build and organize a rack
Understand how to fall and experience falls while being backed-up
Build anchors
Continue working on climbing skills and drills to fine- tune your technique.

1 day - $125.00 - Minimum 4 people required.

Day 1: 8:30AM - 4:30PM - Location: Cal-Cheak/Cheak-Canyon (meeting TBA)

Prerequisite: belaying and building a top rope anchor is an asset.
Equipment required: Harness, belay device and climbing shoes.

Lead Climbing on Gear Routes
A 2 day comprehensive course covers protection placement and removal, belaying the leader, lead strategy, fall factors, and crack climbing technique.

Goal: To safely lead single pitch gear routes using efficient crack climbing technique.

Objectives: Through discussion, demonstration and participation you will be able to:

Develop strategies to safely and efficiently lead a route,
Choose from a variety of ways of building, selecting and racking gear,
Utilize direct and redirected belays,
Assess quality, direction of loading & strength of gear placements,
Utilize runners to minimize rope drag,
Build uni-directional and multi-directional anchors and placements,
Select clipping stances, and,
Develop crack climbing skills and techniques.

Duration & Cost:

2 day - $225.00 - Minimum 4 people required.

Day 2: 8:30AM - 4:30PM – Location: Squamish (meeting TBA)

Prerequisite: Top-rope anchors course or equivalent experience is required. Sport lead climbing experience.

Equipment required: Harness, 2 locking Carabiners (preferably pear shape), 4-6 D-shape non-locking carabiners, ATC style belay device, climbing shoes, prusik (1.5 meters - 7mm accessory cord), cordalette (5-6 meters - 7mm accessory cord), 6-8 quickdraws, 2 shoulder slings, 50-70m climbing rope. Recommended but not required: selection of cams and nuts.

Rope Rescue

Would you know what to do if you or your partner were injured on a multi-pitch climb?

Goal: This course increases awareness of potential rescue situations and if the circumstance arises, how to perform a rescue for you, your partner or other climbers in need of rescue.

Objectives: Through discussion, demonstration and participation you will practice the basic components of a simple rescue system by learning how to:

Escape from the belay system,
Do rescue raises and lowers using a variety of devices and systems, and,
Perform emergency retreats.

Duration & Cost:

1.5 day - $125.00 - Minimum 4 people required.
